COMFORT FOOD PROJECT

About This Project

Recipes can signify a time, ritual or memory. They are interesting artifacts that tell stories and pass down rituals. If you like the process/ritual of eating and cooking please add to this collection by uploading a photograph of your recipe (either the recipe “card” or food).

Feel free to include the significance of the recipe or respond to previous posts.

Thank you!

* Food can be a metaphor…  creative license may be taken with this word. More conceptual recipes are welcome too!

An Interactive Installation, Blog and Archive

Food is an important part of culture, family history and friends. Recipes can signify a time, ritual or memory. They are interesting artifacts that tell stories and pass down rituals. My Interest in recipes stems from a curiosity in my own past, family, lineage of women and traditions.

Part 1:
Comfort Food began as data collection of participants’ recipe cards. Through an instillation at Medialuscious (April 2011) it shifted, giving users the opportunity to curate through archiving and adding recipes to the dynamic collection displayed during the show.

Part 2:
After the show I decided to create a blog to display the results of the project as well as expand the collection by letting others add their own images and stories. User testing and feedback has pushed this digital archive through several iterations.
